Roger Davison: Planning started back in 1986 when Helen and I visited family living near the Lancaster Canal in Lancashire. The opportunity to spend time touring around parts of England aboard a narrowboat visiting quaint historic villages, visiting the canal side pubs along the way had an immediate magnetic attraction. Unfortunately the itinerary for that visit was already full and so the plans were put on hold for the next twenty five years. As part of our Round the World adventure we took a short cruise on the Oxford Canal on NB Trinity from College Cruisers, Jericho. We got as far as the Winding Hole above Nell Bridge Lock before sadly we returned in time to continue on the next segment of the trip – a River Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest aboard mv Avalon Panorama. With our son Angus and his partner Cherice living and working in the UK, we settled on a three week cruise. Once with a family run company – this time Clifton Cruisers based at Clifton Wharf near Rugby on the Oxford Canal. This time we will be joined for different parts of the trip by Angus & Cherice, cousin Glenn & partner David and close friends from Newcastle Anne & Steve.
